Getting up in the morning with a pleasant feeling is quite hard for most people. Those extra ten minutes of sleep after turning off the alarm feel so good that you just don’t want to leave the bed at any cost. But this doesn’t seem to help much if you want to spend the whole day in a good mood. For this purpose, here are 7 simple tips to set up your mood for the whole day.
Get up early
Getting up early in the morning should be on the top of your list. If you are in the habit of snoozing off your alarm and going back to sleep for 10 more minutes, then get rid of this habit TODAY! When you get up late, then you probably have to rush to find your things, you skip breakfast, and when you finally step out of the door, you realize that you are all sweaty and already tired. This is how you ruin the rest of the day only because you wasted ten minutes in the morning. Instead of cursing yourself throughout the day, it’d be better for you to get rid of this habit.
DO NOT pick up your phone
Most of us look at our phones first thing after getting up. When you pick up your phone after getting up, you can’t resist yourself from going through all your social media accounts. Firstly, it’s a complete waste of time and secondly, you’ll get up from the bed in a bad mood either because you saw something stressful or something demotivated you for the whole day. So, avoid looking at your phone after waking up, you can do that in some free time that you find during the day.
Take a cold shower
Researchers say that taking a cold shower as compared to a warm one keeps you active all day and boosts up your metabolism.
In addition to that, it is also good for your physical as well as mental health. According to a research conducted in 2007, it is said that cold water tends to activate the neurochemicals that make your mood better and positive for the rest of the day. Therefore, replace the hot bath with a cold shower starting today to see significant changes in your mood.
Read something of your interest

When you start skipping that phone habit of yours, then you would have some time in the morning before you leave the house. Instead of wasting that time or again picking up your phone and scrolling through Facebook, you should utilize it better. Reading is a very healthy habit to develop, so avail that extra time to read something interesting and motivating. That something can be any of your favorite novels, any travel blog outlining the super adventures or maybe some tips from a magazine about staying healthy.
Never forget to exercise
Make a habit of exercising daily or you can also do yoga if you prefer. Exercise or meditation helps you relieve all the tension and stress that is en-caged somewhere in your mind even if you don’t feel it. Trust me; you would never want to start a new day with some sort of stress or uneasiness in your mind. Therefore, get rid of that disturbance, shun away all the distressing thoughts and boost up yourself in order to start a new day with a fresh and good mood. You can also consider setting up a gym in your home to make exercises more comfortable.
Think of as many positive thoughts as you can
After getting up early and getting all active for the day, do not let anything discourage you or demotivate you. For this purpose, think of as many positive thoughts as you can so that your mind already gets processed to think positive only, for the rest of the day. This way, no negative thought or gesture would be able to make you sad, and you will be able to find a positive way out of everything negative.
Dance to some upbeat music
Music has unbelievably strong soothing power. Medical researchers recommend that whenever you feel sad or a bit down, then instead of mourning or whining about it, you should get up, play some nice upbeat music and dance like crazy. After a while, you’ll feel as if you were never sad. So, you should try this technique every morning because prevention is better than cure. You can perform this sadness healing technique early in your day so that whenever any such thing is about to hit you, you are all ready for that.
So, these were a few tips that can help you in the morning to set up your mood for the whole day. And all of us should try these more often in order to make 2017 a better one.
