Detailed Review
I bought the Chambor Smooth-on eyeliner four months back from Parco in Mall of India. I went there looking for an eyeliner that dries matte not glossy like the Maybelline Hyper glossy ones; I also wanted the eyeliner to not chip off in case I rub my eyes. Don’t get me wrong; Maybelline ones are good too, it’s just that I wanted one that dries dark matte black not dark glossy black. Their representative showed me a bunch of different eyeliners, from Rimmel to Revlon to Maybelline to bourjos. I ended up picking this one from Chambor as when I tried it on the back of my hand this one seemed to match all the qualities I was looking for in my new eyeliner.
I started using the Chambor geneva Smooth-on eyeliner, and it has now become my favourite eyeliner. I have noticed that eyeliners that dry glossy don’t look good on me and the biggest pro that this eyeliner had for me was the fact that it dries matte black, matte deep black.
The tube it is packaged in is compact and very easy to carry in even tiny clutch purses or even my jeans’ pockets. It has a fine brush which gives room for applying a thin line close to the lashes (tight lining) as well as playing around and going dramatic.
When I was on the lookout for a matte eyeliner I tried various brands but this one was the most matte of them all, and it still stayed intense black, and I experienced no fading in its colour when it dries matte. I like their formula because it is waterproof but still easy to take off with my homemade eye makeup remover (oil-based) and I didn’t have to rub my eyes to the point that they would start to sting.
After four months of using this eyeliner almost every other day if not every day, the tube still seems full, so for its price i.e. Rs. 695 for 3.5 ml and 36 months of shelf life I found it reasonably priced.
Another thing I really liked is how the company mentions all the ingredients to check for in case you are allergic to them, I know a lot of brands to do mention ingredients on make-up products, which I am not a fan of because I feel a consumer should be made aware of what they are putting on their skin. So kudos to Chambor Geneva as a brand for not hiding the ingredients.
The only con I experienced was that The Chambor geneva Smooth-on eyeliner has a drying time just like all other eyeliners and in that drying time, it is transferable so you have to be mindful of letting it fix before you blink a lot or rub it. Once it is fixed, though, rubbing doesn’t fade it away unless you rub aggressively, but then why must you rub aggressively? I rubbed just to test it.
However, if you want an eyeliner and don’t have Rs. 700 to spare then it would certainly be expensive, I am still looking for something less pricey with the same quality, quantity and shelf life but so far haven’t had any luck. If I do find one, I will surely update this post. However, for now, this remains my favourite everyday matte eyeliner.
Will I buy it again?
Yes! The Chambor geneva Smooth-on eyeliner is now my favourite matte black eyeliner, and it fits my budget too, and I love the long shelf life on it.
Do I recommend it?
Yes: If you are looking for a waterproof liquid eyeliner that dries matte and is in the range of Rs. 500-700 and has a long shelf life of 3 years The Chambor geneva Smooth-on eyeliner is the best choice.
No: If you want a glossy finish eyeliner or your budget doest not have Rs. 700 to spare.
